The Empire State Trail (EST) America’s Pilgrimage Program's (ESTAP) advantage is that walking, bicycling or engaging in any physical activity on the EST is optional.
To earn a Certificate of Achievement, ESTAP participants are required to obtain an official ESTAP Passport available from any Official Program Representative's (OPR) office listed herein. Whenever you patronize any participating retail business, vendor, organization and/or activity in the Businesses list herein, remember to have their stamp affixed on your Passport. Once your Passport is completely filled with stamps, present it to any OPR listed herein to receive your Certificate of Achievement.
The current roster of participating Towns & Businesses (subject to change at any time) is listed in that section, and will be clearly identified with an ESTAP program decal affixed to their place of business window. Passports are obtained and Certificates of Achievement redeemed at any participating Town Office, Chamber of Commerce and/or any other OPR also listed in that section.
And, to encourage visitors and tourists to return to upstate New York again and again, I deliberately established that your Passport has no expiration date; it can be used on multiple visits until filled with stamps.
In summary, participants:
1. Obtain a Passport at any OPR office listed herein;
2. Completely fill the Passport with stamps obtained by patronizing any participants in the Businesses section herein; and
3. Obtain a Certificate of Achievement at any participating OPR office listed herein.
NOTE: The ESTAP is anticipated to officially launch in 2026. Details will be announced in the website after January 1st.
